Work in progress
A while ago, I came across an old photo of Nik's parents on a motorcycle.
I always liked that photo and thought that it would make a great reference for a painting.
The time has come to make it.
I enlarged the photo to the dimensions of the chosen canvas and started tracing it but very quickly realized that the tracing will not give me enough details to do the painting that I had in mind, so, I opted to enlarge the photo on a photo paper which gave me the right enlargement without losing any details and this photo was mounted on the canvas, thus giving me a detailed underpainting base.
Once it was sealed and dried, I started to paint using oil paints in sepia tones.

I started with Niks father. I use only browns and buff white for the painting in order to get the antique photo look.

After an almost two months break due to moving of the studio, I am back at the easel.
I am working on the background trying to get the right touch to all the grass. It a tedious work and kind of monotonous but once achieved it will look great.

Working on the grass in the background. It took a while to figure out the best way to work the details, but I am fine with the results. It will be glazed later to achieve more depth.
I also worked on the female on the bike.

Today I worked on the background. Painting the fence and the bushed in the back.

I glazed the whole painting in an umber color to get the whole painting in the same value.
Once it dried, I added some highlights on the faces, darkened the background and signed.
Its now completed.
On to the next project.
